Welcome
to the Texas Boll Weevil Eradication Foundation Web site.
This site has been developed to provide information to cotton producers
and the general public about the process and progress of boll weevil
eradication in the state.
The Foundation is a nonprofit, grower-initiated and funded organization
dedicated to eliminating the cotton boll weevil from Texas cotton fields.
When eradication is accomplished, cotton yields increase and production
costs decrease.
In addition, the use of insecticides for boll weevil control is practically
eliminated, and the use of all other insecticides for insect control
in cotton fields is usually drastically reduced.
The Program
Information section of the site provides information
on the history of boll weevil
eradication, the
insect's life cycle, how fields are mapped,
the use of traps and the
answers to frequently asked questions.
The Contacts
section provides information on reaching key people at Headquarters.
Looking for employment? Check our Jobs
section. You can also download an application if you find a job you're
interested in.
The Trapping
and Treatment
sections provide data on the progress of eradication in the state.
If you need to know what area each zone encompasses, how many acres
are represented, when a zone began or what its status is, check our
Zones
section.
The latest news release can be found in our News
section, along with previous news
releases and newsletters. These
releases and newsletters provide additional valuable information about
eradication.
Finally, the laws that govern eradication, the sites of other eradication
programs, related government sites, links to cotton organizations and
a few light-hearted boll weevil sites can be found in our Links
section.
